Permission was given for Nuthatch (GB) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute, and for Spring Day (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Nuthatch (GB) which reared repeatedly and violently when trying to leg up Ray Dawson resulting in her having to be led to post.
In addition, upon arrival at the start, the stalls handlers were unable to get a blindfold on due to the filly rearing.
Jamie Osborne was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As Nuthatch (GB) had also shown similar behaviour at Chelmsford on 25 July 2023 where she was withdrawn after rearing, unseating the rider and getting loose, the matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Ray Dawson reported that Nuthatch (GB), placed third, was slowly away, Darragh Keenan reported that Spring Day (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly from the stalls, and Paddy Bradley reported that Nordic Glory (IRE), unplaced, became unbalanced approximately two and a half furlongs out and stopped quickly thereafter.
