The Starter reported that EY UP IT’S MAGGIE was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Tony Coyle was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that EY UP IT’S MAGGIE had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the filly would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving the winner, Mountain Brave (GB), ridden by Franny Norton; Zim Baby (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Theodore Ladd and Fizzy Feet (IRE), placed second, ridden by Georgia Dobie.
Norton was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had angled mount left-handed towards the rail and failed to leave sufficient racing room for two horses on his inside, resulting in Zim Baby (GB) having to be checked.
Franny Norton, the rider of the winner, Mountain Brave (GB), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level inside the final furlong.
The winner, Mountain Brave (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 26 June 2021, where the filly finished last of fourteen, beaten 11½ lengths.
Mark Johnston’s representative explained that Mountain Brave (GB) benefitted from being able to dominate from the front on this occasion.
The filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Theodore Ladd reported that Zim Baby (GB), placed fifth, hung left throughout.
