The Stewards informed John Joseph Murphy, trainer that Quarterdeck, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again. J.P. O'Brien, rider of Torrey Pines, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran off two bends and did not handle the track. The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of Van Schaick, concerning his use of the whip in the final three furlongs of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that C.T. Keane was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and consequently cautioned him having taken his good previous record into consideration.
