Jason Watson, the rider of Noble Peace (GB), placed third, was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level from approximately 2 furlongs out.
The winner, Melakaz (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 8 December 2021, where the gelding finished twelfth of thirteen runners, beaten 11 lengths.
It was noted that Robert Stephens’s representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion.
Melakaz (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jason Watson reported that Noble Peace (GB), placed third, hung right-handed under pressure.
