Heroesandvillains wins the season opener at Kilbeggan
I didn't think we would be coming to Kilbeggan with him to win but he just went off in the spring. I don't know what happened him but we had to give him time and he's really a chaser in the making. He is a nice horse and we gave a lot of money (140,000 pounds) for him after he won a point. His owner has had desperate luck lately so I'm delighted to start the new season with a winner. We'll continue on for a little while although I'm not sure he'd run on summer ground.
Gamble goes astray as Crezic gets his turn
Callthebarman follows-up on Huntingdon win
He's a grand little horse and is a half-brother to Jer's Girl. He's strong for a four-year-old and is making use of the allowance at the minute. Peggy's Acre went a nice gallop and gave him a lead but I was afraid that Puppy (Robert Power on Visioman) was coming to do him but it worked out. He'll run away over the summer. Jer’s Girl is grand after Punchestown but she seems to have lost her spark a bit. She’s home safe and sound and I'm not sure what we are going to do with her. We'll have to see.
Cromwell doubles-up with Heels
I bought her at Doncaster in January for 2,500 pound and she's done it well. She jumps a fence and she'll stay going for the summer. She wants summer ground. When I bought the horse I had no owner and with the name it dawned on me after a few days it would be ideal for a ladies syndicate. My wife Kiva got on to her friends and there are 20 in the syndicate. The only thing is they are going to be spoiled as that is their first runner. Hopefully they will have a bit of fun with her over the summer.
Camlann swoops late under Mullins for Hanlon
They cut each other's throats in front and Danny sat to get him home. He said going down the back they were gone a million. He's a 126 horse over hurdles and is very consistent. He jumped brilliantly and he looks a novice chaser for the summer. I wanted that winner as we’ve had a horrible run. We've had point-to-point winners but nothing on the track for a good while.
McNamara & Maxwell Take The Cash
We ran into one the last day owned by JP McManus and we got the better of one of his today. He's a lovely big good-looking horse, and will give the owners a bit of fun over the summer. He won't go on quick ground but once there is a bit of juice in it he'll be alright. The owners are from around Manister in Limerick and I've known them for a long time. He was bought in Doncaster last year, and hopefully there is another day in him.
Macgiloney comes from last to first under O'Neill
Barry gave him a lovely ride. It was a small field but it looked a strong bumper on paper. It's only ten days since he was third in a maiden hurdle and he'd only one bit of minor work since so I was hopeful rather than confident. I'm delighted for the owner (Michael Moloney) who has been with me a while and this looks a promising horse. He was third in a point-to-point to Danny Kirwan and could have been sold but he's repaid him now. He’ll go hurdling now. The horses are running well and hopefully we can go on now and have a good summer.
