McNamara & Maxwell Take The Cash Take The Cash just prevailed in the www.kilbegganraces.com Handicap Chase, scoring under Dillon Maxwell for trainer Andrew McNamara junior. Having gone down by just three parts of a length on his last start at Limerick, the nine-year-old son of Cloudings was fancied to go one place better today, and was sent to post the 9/2 favourite in the colours of the Saffron & Green Syndicate. Settled behind the leaders, the bay gelding was ridden to challenge on the outer before the last, and had a great battle with Don't Let Go from there, with just a short head separating them at the line. The runner-up was returned at 10/1 under Ricky Doyle for Conor O'Dwyer, while Glenwood For Ever (5/1) was another seven and a half lengths back in third for Sean Flanagan and Noel Meade. Glenwood For Ever was later disqualified after Flanagan weighed in 1.5lbs light. Analyse That (7/1) was promoted to third, with Sheila Ahern aboard that one for Sean Aherne. McNamara said afterwards: "We ran into one the last day owned by JP McManus and we got the better of one of his today. "He's a lovely big good-looking horse, and will give the owners a bit of fun over the summer. He won't go on quick ground but once there is a bit of juice in it he'll be alright. "The owners are from around Manister in Limerick and I've known them for a long time. He was bought in Doncaster last year, and hopefully there is another day in him." STEWARDS REPORT The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. L. Walsh, that S.W. Flanagan, rider of Glenwood For Ever, placed third, weighed out exactly 164.3 Ibs and weighed in 162.8 Ibs this being 1.2 Ibs below the base weight of 164.0 Ibs. Mr. Meade agreed with the Clerk of the Scales report, having seen the printout and added he saddled the horse with the saddle, non slip pad, lead cloth and girths as weighed out. Evidence was heard from the rider S.W. Flanagan who stated that he handed over all equipment to Mr. Meade as already stated and was unable to explain the discrepancies. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards used their powers under Rule 231 and disqualified Glenwood for Ever from third place. In view of the evidence the Stewards did not apportion blame to any person and therefore took no further action. The result now reads: 1st Take The Cash 2nd Don't Let Go 3rd Analyse That 4th Jimmyjames(GB) 5th Ontopoftheworld. Justice Tony Hunt absented himself from this enquiry and Mr. William Flood acted as Chairman. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
