The Clerk of the Scales objected to Ingenuity (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Patrick Cowley, and trained by Brian Barr on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 10st 7lb having weighed out at 10st 9lb.
Ingenuity (GB) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: First, Master Artist (IRE); Second, Dolly Mcqueen (GB); Third, Guns For Hire (IRE); Fourth, Numberoneson (IRE).
The rider, the representative of Brian Barr and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
As the Stewards were unable to establish an explanation for the weight difference, Cowley was suspended for 1 day and Brian Barr was fined £250.
Following the race, Fergus Gregory reported that Hard Toffee (IRE), which was pulled up, jumped the first two hurdles cautiously and was never travelling thereafter.
