An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when Hooper (GB), placed second, ridden by Nico de Boinville, interfered with Ruthless Article (IRE), placed third, ridden by Sean Bowen.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Hooper (GB)’s placing as that gelding appeared to be finishing the stronger and always appeared to be holding Ruthless Article (IRE) on the run to the line, with the distance between the two runners ¾ length.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hooper (GB) was hanging badly left-handed despite de Boinville’s best efforts to correct the gelding.
Following the race, Nico de Boinville reported that Hooper (GB), placed second, hung badly left-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Ruthless Article (IRE), placed third, lost its left-hind shoe.
