Permission was given for Cavern Club (IRE) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries.
Approaching the final furlong, Kingsley Pride (GB), placed second, shied right-handed away from the winner Cavern Club (IRE), when the gelding hung right-handed despite its rider’s best effort to correct his mount, and as a result Mighty River (IRE), placed third, was carried right-handed off its intended line.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of either Cavern Club (IRE) or Kingsley Pride (GB).
Following the race, Theodore Ladd reported that MIRARBELLO BAY (IRE), placed fifth, was slowly away.
