Permission was given for Gorgeous Gobolina (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
Mansfield (GB) ran freely to post.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
The Starter reported that Summer Heights (GB), trained by Jim Goldie, was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Goldie was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The winner, Mansfield (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 14 September 2021 where the gelding finished eighth of eleven, beaten by 12 lengths.
It was noted that Stella Barclay could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Shortly after the start, Tilsworth Valerie (GB), unplaced, when running freely, edged slightly left causing Val De Travers (GB), placed second, which was also running freely, to lock on and clip heels but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that there was no riding offence involved.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Val De Travers (GB) had lost its right hind shoe.
