The Stewards requested a report from D. T. Hughes, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Swiftmarc, winner, as compared with its most recent run at Tipperary on 5th June, where he finished 13th of 16 finishers, beaten 38 lengths. The trainer reported that his charge has had a minor wind operation since his last run, and this may have brought about any apparent improvement. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won Any horse rated above 123 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 123 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 123 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
Riders - Confined to Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the allowance under Rule 52 (iii). Allowances (up to and including 2nd September and which are not cumulative) who have not ridden the winners of 25 *races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden the winners of 40 *races allowed 2lb No allowance to riders under Rule 52 (iii) may be claimed.
