Euro Fou (IRE), trained by Tim Easterby, had arrived in the Parade Ring without its declared cheekpieces, which were subsequently located and fitted on the gelding before going to the start.
Easterby was cautioned.
Aidan MacDonald, the rider of the winner, EX S’ELANCE (FR), was suspended for 7 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 3 furlongs out.
Being a 10lb Claimer, MacDonald was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The winner, EX S’ELANCE (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Catterick on 3 January 2021 where the gelding finished tenth of thirteen, beaten by 34 lengths.
Micky Hammond’s explanation that EX S’ELANCE (FR) may have benefited from the conditional rider’s 10lb allowance was noted.
EX S’ELANCE (FR) was routine tested.
Approaching the line, Park Lane Dancer (IRE), placed fourth, switched right off the heels of the winner, EX S’ELANCE (FR), giving a bump to Gold Runner (IRE), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Aaron Anderson reported that Park Lane Dancer (IRE) hung left throughout.
