Lyons records double
He loves the fast ground and he's a pleasure to train. He's improving all of the time and I felt the step up in trip would suit him. We've no definite plans for him for the future.
The winner is owned by the Bull & Bear syndicate who are owned by a group who all work for Goodbody Stockbrokers. I'm glad of the win tonight as my finace Stephanie manages the syndicate and she wasn't happy that the horse hadn't won! She was entitled to win here being the highest rated filly in the race. She was unlucky here in a handicap two weeks ago, I just hope the handicapper won't be too hard on her.
Smullen strikes again
We gave him a good chance, he ran well at Bellewstown but the ground was a bit lively for him. We hope to maybe go for another nursery with him depending on what the handicapper does with him. He is owned by my father in-law James Poyton and Alex Dick who is from Scotland and works as an engineer over here.
Kinane seen to good effect
I thought Eddie Lynam's filly had beaten us when he headed us inside the final furlong but she fought well. She's honest and stays well, she's bred to stay 1m ¿ and we'll probably run her over that distance next year. We might give her another run in The Silken Glider Stakes at Fairyhouse.
Kinane and Oxx record double
He has no official rating yet, he's still a baby. He has had a few set backs and it's been difficult to find races for him as he doesn't like the soft ground, that's why he's run here twice this season. The next race for him hopefully will be in the Dubai Carnival.
