Anjalawi gains deserved win in Dundalk opener
She's tough out and she's danced every dance, she only raced last week,. She has the speed to run over five but she will improve over a bit further. The main thing is that we're absolutely delighted for owner Pat McCarthy as she's a home-bred filly. He's an absolute gentleman. He's a new owner to us who came through Ronnie Boland, who is a big cog in the wheel for us. Pat would have really loved to be here so under the circumstances we are thinking of him now. He bred her, asked if we would take her and we couldn't be more delighted to train for a man. He's the back-bone of racing and he'll be over the moon with this. She doesn't have to improve too much and we'll search for black-type for her next year. That was a good performance from her wide draw as it's not easy to do over five here.

She's a good tough filly. That's the first time over five and Declan told us to try her over it after riding her the last two times. She was a bit dead when we came back from Naas in August so we gave her a break and brought her back. We thought she'd handle the surface, she had run once here last year for another trainer, as she has a small quick action. Obviously she had a very bad draw and I didn't know if she would be able to lie up over the five but Declan said she did no problem and stayed on well at the end. He said you could step her back up to six or keep her at five so hopefully there is another day or two in her. She actually grew when we gave her the break, she went up a bit behind, so I thought there was a bit of improvement in her. She's a good genuine, honest filly and we're lucky to have her. We've had three runners this year and three winners so we can't ask for any more than that.

McGuinness one two as Ryan excels on Raphael
We bought him out of Kevin Prendergast's last year. He burst here one night but is a very nice horse when things go well,. He needs top of the ground or that all-weather surface. He works like a premier handicap horse when he's right. He pulls hard, that wasn't the plan to ride him like that tonight but Gavin said no-one was making and he got a freebie in front and settled really well. That's why he's going to be champion apprentice because he's clued in and has a great head on his shoulders. War Hero was a little unlucky to meet him and be the bridesmaid again. I don't know what the handicapper is going to do with the winner but hopefully he won't be too hard on him. I might buy him a pint!

Arcanears delights Mrs Roper and Halford with another win under Whelan
He belongs to a lady that has been a great supporter of ours for years, Carol Roper, and she'll really enjoy that winner,. He always runs great races so keeps himself high in the handicap all the time. That race suited him well tonight with the fast gallop from beginning to end. Ronan gave him a lovely ride, everything opened up lovely for him and he battled really well. We're delighted to win with him because he always wears his heart on his sleeve. It was a very strong race and the real strong pace suited him. He loved that and he's an out-and-out six furlong horse. If they go a bit steady sometimes he gets tapped for a bit of pace.
