An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Hooflepuff (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Mr Matt Brown and JACK D’OR, placed fifth, ridden by Mr Michael Robinson.
Mr Michael Robinson was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had angled left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Hooflepuff (IRE), causing Mr Brown to take a check to avoid his heels.
Exiting the first bend, a free running Ascot Day (FR), unplaced, became awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Dream Point (IRE), placed second, and shifted right-handed, tightening Garrison Commander (IRE), placed third, onto Dance King (GB), placed seventh, which was inconvenienced and carried wide, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Dance King (GB), which started joint-favourite and finished seventh of nine runners, was considered.
The representative of Tim Easterby reported that the gelding had been unsuited by being trapped wide without cover throughout, after having suffered interference in the early stages of the race.
Their explanation was noted; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Dance King (GB), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
