John Carr got Champion Hurdle day off to a great start when he landed the opening Bishopscourt Cup with White Head who beat Ground Ivy by three lengths.
The winner was sent off the 3/1 second favourite a lot of which was down to the big gamble of eventual 6/4 favourite Turn Up.
White Head looked held for a stride or two on the approach to the home straight but he quickened well when prompted and while benefiting from the mistake at the second last by long time leader Inoma James, John Carr's charge should have had enough in hand.
A winner at Punchestown's Kildare Hunt point-to-point on St Patrick's day, White Head's trainer admitted to being very confident beforehand and that the better the ground, the better the horse.
Ground Ivy also ran in that same point-to-point and managed to close a 12-length deficit that day down to three on this occasion.
Miss Muldoon was consistent in her last three starts, winning at Athenry on the latest outing and probably ran up to her best here.
Turn Up was lucky to be still in the race after jumping the first and he reportedly sustained a nasty gash to the leg in that first fence mistake. Jamie Codd pulled the favourite up before jumping two out.
