Harrington & Foley win opener on Guineas weekend
she got a little bit warm at the start but really has behaved beautifully and was very relaxed. Shane said it just took her a while to realise what she was doing but she came between the two horses and put her head down. He gave her two slaps and that was all. We’ve always liked her and thought she could run very well but wasn’t sure if she could win this evening. She’s a lovely filly, and will have learned plenty in behind. She’s going to be better when she goes over seven furlongs. We just wanted to get this race out of the way first and haven’t made any plans.
Lyons seeking Group 1 glory with Marble Hill winner
our initial plan is to stay here for the Railway Stakes but I’ll have to talk it over with the owners. The important thing with him is to try and aim at a Group 1 and not leave it in Ascot. My plan would be to stay at home and hopefully have a Phoenix horse.
Viadera completes quick double for connections
I think she has grown, she’s a big filly, the trip was a help and she’ll get further than what I was asking her to do. My fillies weren’t right earlier in the season. They weren’t sick but were just not there. On that you would like to think there is a Listed race in her and that’s what we will be doing.
Jassaar books Royal Ascot ticket with valuable win
I thought he would be tough to beat today, and he got a very good ride from Andrew Slattery. It might have been a wise choice to pick him because I think he’s great value for his 7lb claim. The plan which I’ve had in my mind for a long time for this horse is the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, if he gets into it — but I think he will now. He handles fast ground.
Royal Ascot on the agenda for Gallinule winner
Sonaiyla scores for Halford & Whelan
she got knocked down twice the last day but still ran well, and the time before that there seemed to be an awful draw bias at Naas so she’s been a bit unlucky. It’s lovely to come here and win a maiden with her. She had the bit of experience and Ronan is riding terrific. She can go back to handicaps now.
