Approximately 1 furlong after the start, the winner, Kingston Joy (IRE), shied away from Beebee (GB), unplaced, on its outside causing the filly to shift left-handed onto Stranger Things (GB), placed third, carrying the mare off its intended line resulting in Be Fair (GB), placed second, to make contact with the rail for a number of strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Kingston Joy (IRE).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Claddaghduff (IRE), unplaced, had lost its left fore shoe.
