Warrior lives up to long held plan
His mother won this back in 1997 when I rode her,. He wants dry ground. He ran in this last year but it rained the night before and turned sticky. He only finished fourth. Any day he has the ground good or better he's always in it. This was always the plan for him. This was the only race my uncle Peter (Lawler) wanted to win. From the day he sent the mare to the stallion this was the plan.
Merano springs surprise for Mullins
I'm delighted. We came here more in hope than expectation with him,. Maybe it's the ground that's turned him inside out. I thought the two of them (Pomme Tiepy finished 4th) wanted soft ground but maybe they are fed up with it soft and appreciate a bit better ground at this stage of their careers. That saved the both of them from the sales and we'll continue to race both if we can find races long enough.
Chasing comes good in novice handicap chase
He deserved it. when you look at his form with Cooldine two years ago. That day he made it so we decided to go back to old tactics,. I'm just thrilled. He loves that ground and hopefully his old legs are alright. Today was the day for him and he jumped brilliantly. He was unlucky during the winter. I had him spot on for Christmas and he slipped up at the first. Then he lost his confidence here. He ran well in the SunAlliance considering and that taught him a lot. Finally he's got his act together.
Arvika too hot to handle
That was unexpected. I didn't dream that he would be able to perform llike that over this trip,. The better ground has turned him inside out. He's a different horse. That's what he has been showing me at home. I was so disappointed the first day when he ran away with Patrick. I couldn't believe he would be beat that day. Then he ran too free with Ruby. The fast pace on better ground makes him an easier ride. He'll go novice chasing next season and on that performance might make a two-miler.
Lady produces fine front-running performance
All credit to Andrew Duff he knows the mare so well,. Whatever shes does in bumpers is a bonus. She's a brilliant jumper and I can't wait to see her over a fence. We decided to make use of her stamina as there were horses in behind that might be a bit quicker than her. She was mad in season which I was worried about.
Harrington doubles up with Outlook
She's a half-sister to Chasing Cars. I leased her off the breeders after she won a point-to-point in the autumn,. I told the owners then I thought I'd get some black type with Chasing Cars. She had a good run last time and we were just waiting on good ground. She'll make a lovely hurdler.
