The Stewards requested a report from John W. Nicholson, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Nora Batt, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge benefited from todays ground conditions and this in his opinion had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered. S. Foley, rider of Paytheprice (GB) trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was feeling the ground in the closing stages. W.M. Lordan, rider of Victorious Secret, trained by T. Stack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on the track.
An extended handicap for three yrs old only (75 = 9st 12lb) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 75 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 75 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
