McDonaghs win Killarney's feature
myself and Mark (McDonagh, jockey) had a chat earlier, we had both walked the track and there was a strip on the inner and told Mark to stick around there. He got in trouble around the bottom bend but did it to perfection. I fancied him coming if he got his ground, and he battled well. Driving down it was raining solid from Waterford and I thought our chance was gone so was surprised how good the ground was when I walked it. I was confident he'd leave the Galway run behind him as he didn't handle the track. We'll stick left-handed and he'll rock on to the Listowel Hurdle now — he has course form there. Mark's parents are here today and that's important and is great to see. You'd like to see more of a crowd but we'll get there eventually.

Black Samurai cutting a dash over fences
He is improving away and I'm delighted with him. This race came up and we had to have a go at it. I have to bring another horse with him to the races, and at Limerick the last day we were a bit disappointed with him but we when we arrived there was white froth out through him. He is a horse who is always a little on the edge and could go over the top easily but there was none of that today and he spared himself. I'd say he is only coming to himself as he had bits of trouble and was hard to get him right. He is progressing away and I'd say the nicer ground is a big help - the dream is for him to become a nice horse. His owner is here today for the first time - it is terribly important that these fellas get out to enjoy themselves watching their horses.
Gainford completes double for in-form Nolan
Paul's horses are in great form and he was in great form coming here. He has had three very consistent runs but I thought the ground was going against him. The trip was right for him, we went a right good gallop and in fairness to the horse in front of me (eventual runner-up Old Town Road), he was game but my lad stayed well to the line.
