Fife and Madden work great together with Charmer
He's life changing this horse,. We claimed him out of a Redcar seller, rated 50 and he's done that off 78. He's such a genuine horse that you could just keep running him. He does enough in front and just keeps running and running. The girls have won five on him and that's two for the boys now as Ben Curtis won on him at Musselburgh on Monday and obviously Tom has done the business there. It was quite an enterprising ride, I thought. He said 'there's not a lot of pace' and I said 'just slot in and see where you are'. He's led everywhere. He was lucky really because he does tend to stop and doesn't really do a lot in front but it never really got to that point today as it was hands and heels. We've been here since Wednesday night as the other horse had to do a stalls test. We had a runner at the Curragh a few weeks ago on Champions Weekend, that was our first runner over here, and he was third in one of the big handicaps. This is the first runner we've had on the all-weather here and I think we might keep coming back!
1-2 for Joseph O'Brien as Eagle continues on the up
He's got a load of ability and we're just starting to find the key to him now, take our time on him and ride him like the best horse in the race,. further . He's showing it now. He's come past 90 percent of the field there in the last furlong and he's gone away at the line again. I'd imagine he'll go for some black-type now, bigger and better things. I'd say his days in handicaps are gone now so we'll see how he goes from here.
Double up for Joseph O'Brien with King's Field
He's genuine but he only does what he has to,. He only really gets going when you get stuck into him but in fairness he did put his head out. You'd have to think he'd improve for a little bit of experience in a race like that. He's probably not used to going that pace in a race but he's done it well at the line.
64/1 Dundalk double for Tom Madden
She hasn't been with me that long, she came from the claimer in Laytown,. That's her 54th run so she's been a sound filly all her life, obviously. We didn't do a whole pile with her and just let her freshen up. We said we'd come here and see what we had so I don't know what the plan is yet. We were thinking of the fillies claimer here next Friday night for her but after that we'll have a look. She's maybe high enough handicap wise but she's a fun filly and she's paid for now so we'll see what happens.
A 2nd and then a win for Gallagher in the Crowne Plaza
We couldn't get him into a race as we kept getting balloted out,. He was first reserve at Gowran last week and I wanted to run him but I couldn't get him in either. He won last year on this surface and this was his first run this year here for us. He likes the surface and came home well. He'll tip away here. He's well enough handicapped now so we'll keep at him.
Bunyan's Hit The Bid takes the Mercury at Dundalk
We’re delighted with him. His three runs this year, since he came back from Dubai, the ground has gone on him every time. Chris even said he took a blow on him there at the furlong pole, so there should be a lot of improvement to come in him. We’ve always believed he’s a proper horse. We’ll look at Hong Kong later on with him and he’ll be back to Dubai for the winter. We’ll bring him back a little bit quicker next year. Hopefully he’ll start off in the Temple Stakes (at Haydock), and the King’s Stand (at Royal Ascot) will be his early-season target. This year he needed a break at that time of the year (after Dubai) because he would have been in training for two years at the end of this year had we not given him the break. There is a big international campaign for him and with that in mind we gave him the break. He’s come back and he’s thrived for it.
Murphy and Foley supplement their Cesarewitch gains
Tom Madden rides his 1st treble at 389/1
I haven't even had a double before this evening so it's nice to get the three,.
