McCreery delighted with Raramauri
Nathan did what he was told, gave her a lovely ride and she was nicely balanced the whole way and did it well. She is a full sister to Downforce and she is a smashing little filly. You probably won't see her again for the year because she is a light-framed filly. She is very honest and I just want her to grow into herself. Today was the first day she had a bit of an ease in the ground and she is a different filly on it - maybe like Downforce. I bought her as a present for my wife (Amanda) from Maurice Burns - so happy days. Although she called me and told me 'why didn't you tell me to come down?!'
Treasuring plunders gold in Tipperary
That was grand. When we saw her Nursery mark we said it was worth a chance over a quick five (furlongs). Soft ground would make it a test and we think she wants a bit further. She is showing plenty of boot and had a hiccup before Down Royal which left her a tad shy for that race so we knew she was better coming here than going there. The plan was to come over (to the stands' side): historically there is, what they call it in Lingfield, a golden highway here. Whatever chance we had, it had to come out wide. We'll now have a look at something like the Round Tower or Curragh Stakes at the end of the month and start hunting black-type with her.
Magic Bear regains a winning thread
I think ground is the key to her; we got away with it at Dundalk and Navan the day she won they called it good but it was actually slow. I think the little ease is a big help to her; she was disappointing at Cork and in hindsight I'd say the ground was a bit quick for her. We haven't over-raced her as she is a bit of a baby and we'll run her again next month in something similar.
Ballet Shoes dances home in Tipperary
I liked her the first day I rode her and she stepped up to win her maiden the last day. Today was a stepping stone for her - it wasn't a case of just getting black-type as I think she's a very smart filly.
'Confident' Eleuthera wins again for Levins
The Last Indian and Smullen team up well
Last season she was very weak in herself and took time to come to hand. Since I gave her three runs over hurdles, she is after strengthening up and the ease in the ground helped today. Pat (Smullen) actually sat on her a couple of times and thought she would have a squeak coming here today. She is a half-sister to Enter The Indian, who is a grand little horse and was a winner of seven or eight races. She is rated 35 but ran off 45 today and has a hurdles rating of 84, so we'll give her another couple of spins on the flat and then hope to go autumn hurdling.
Ibsen and O'Neill win the nightcap
He probably wasn't fit enough but it wasn't a great race and Lisa gave him a good ride and it all worked out well.
