Specific Gravity motors home in the claimer Specific Gravity picked up well for Ronan Whelan to cut down Seanie in the claimer at Tipperary. Pat Smullen attempted to make all on Seanie in this mile and one contest and the pair were still in charge entering the final furlong. However, Specific Gravity wound up his challenge from fourth approaching the final furlong and he stayed on strongly to pass Seanie close home and win by three parts of a length at 12/1. Seanie was an 8/1 chance and he came in a length and a quarter ahead of third-place New Story at 6/1. Buffalo Blues, the 4/1 favourite finished fourth. Ronan Whelan said: "He's a grand old servant and always runs his race. He had a good draw today and all he was doing the last few days was galloping, so I just wanted to be as handy as I could and in fairness to him he stayed galloping for me. "The last day the ground was probably a little bit quick and he enjoyed it today. If you had one like him, you know you're going to get your run week in, week out." Ado McGuinness trained the winner. This was the nine-year-old gelding's ninth career victory. The winner received a friendly claim by the owner (Sean Gallagher). There were four claims for Buffalo Blues, the successful one being by P.C. Byrne, to be trained by Pat Fahy. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
