With A Start made a successful transition to the jumping game when landing division two of the Goffs Supporting Irish Racing Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park.
The Sea The Stars gelding scored on the Flat last year for Denis Hogan and made a pleasing reappearance for current connections on the level at Bellewstown earlier this month.
Noel Meade ’s charge overcame a mistake at the third last, leading at the next and soon asserting under Sean Flanagan to beat Fix The Bill by six lengths at odds of 13/8.
Spiorad Saoirse was a further 11 lengths adrift in third. The winner’s chief market rival Avanzi pulled up quickly just after halfway.
Flanagan said, “He jumped a little green early but loved the ground and finished out quite well. It probably wasn’t much of a race but I thought he did it nicely and will improve from the experience.
“He’s a Flat-bred summer ground horse. His Flat form is quite good. He was a bit keen the last day, he was probably a bit fresh, but he’s gone and done it well today.”
