Brouder two from two on Glendaars Warrior A 9lb rise in the weights didn't stop Glendaars Warrior from delivering in the 80-95 handicap hurdle at Roscommon. Dermot McLoughlin's charge won well by eight lengths in Down Royal last month which saw the handicapper take action. Kevin Brouder was on board again and he switched the seven-year-old gelding out to challenge at the last. He was the meat in the sandwich there between front-running De Bennette on the inner and Ashqar who closed on the outer. Ashqar touched down with a fractional lead but Glendaars Warrior soon led and held the lead all the way to the line as he came in by a neck. The winner was the 7/2 favourite while the runner-up was a 20/1 shot. De Bennette could give no more on the run-in and finished three and a quarter lengths back in third at 33/1. He was half a length in front of Grey Atlantic Way (4/1). Kevin Brouder said: “They quickened going down the back and I just said I’d save my lad and produced him at the second last. He’s an auld devil and there was more under the tank. “I’m two from two on him now and hopefully he can win another one. The ground was probably a little bit tacky for him.” The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of All The Angels (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. McCarthy was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g) (frequency) and Regulation 10.3(i) (time to respond) and having considered his record, they suspended him for two race days.
