Boot Camp jumps the last under Davy Russell© Photo Healy Racing
Boot Camp completed a treble at Limerick for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell, as he took the concluding Racing Post Beginners Chase on his debut over fences.
Twice successful over flights during the summer, the five-year-old son of Milan was last seen finishing eighth in a Grade B contest at Listowel.
Sent off the 11/8 favourite this afternoon, he was sent straight to the front, but was joined five out by Dorans River
He was ridden and gained a narrow advantage before the second last, and was soon left in a clear lead, with Dorans River coming to grief at that obstacle.
The Gigginstown House Stud (completing a double) owned victor jumped the last nicely, and kept on well from there to score by eight lengths. Lite Duties (9/2 to 11/4 on-course) came through to take second under Kevin Brouder for Charles Byrnes, while Cliff House was five lengths back in third.
Russell, who was earlier successful on Percy Veer and Tombstone "He can have a good gawk but he was in front there and was paying attention to what he was doing. He was very accurate with his jumping.
"I'd imagine we had the other horse (Dorans River) covered but you never know.
"It's all experimental with the trip at the moment but getting that trip opens up options for him now."
Elliott was earlier on the mark with Water Sprite and Tombstone.
