Naas Sun, 26th Jan, 2025  Cave Court He just ran into a wee bit of trouble the last day in Leopardstown (second). He’s qualified now for the final of this series in Punchestown, and we might run in a few chases so not to abuse his hurdle mark. He’s a class act of a horse. The wee jockey knows him well and gave him a serious ride.

Punchestown Mon, 13th Jan, 2025  Slotty Dotty it’s a first horse for these owners so I’m after spoiling them, as they’ve won a point-to-point and now a race at Punchestown. She’s been consistent without getting her head in front but her run in Limerick I thought put her right in the picture today. She stays well and the extra few furlongs today was a big help to her and she will get three miles. She jumps well and can jump a fence in time.

Fairyhouse Sat, 11th Jan, 2025  De Temps En Temps It’s been a brilliant day. I’m not sure if I had an across-the-card four-timer before but that’s definitely my first at one meeting. It’s great, at a local track as well. He was good. I thought turning in ‘what’s after going wrong here, I thought he was much better than that’ but once he got going, he flew. I thought it was getting very tight at the furlong pole, but he was lucky enough to get through. He picked up to get in between them and then pricked his ears when he got there.

Naas Mon, 16th Dec, 2024  Royal Time I'm delighted with that. I don't really follow the point-to-points, but I was asking Karl Thornton who is a good young lad and he said that this lad could ride. He was right. It was a very cool ride. It's his first winner on the track but he has seven winners this season pointing. The horse jumped very well, he just made a mess of the last but stayed on well.

Fairyhouse Tue, 12th Nov, 2024  Native Speaker he won his maiden hurdle in Kilbeggan but we were bitterly disappointed with him in Sligo but that was much more pleasing. It was a non-event that day and for whatever reason he just didn’t turn up. That was much more like what he showed us at home, his schooling and everything. He jumped from fence to fence, and Darragh is riding with plenty of confidence. He was good and positive over the last two. Ground is important to him, he wants nice ground, so we’ll see what the weather does and where we go next. That was as short as he wants, and three miles is what we are looking for but in fairness he showed a nice bit of pace off the bend down to the second last. He’s a three-mile chaser.

Limerick Sun, 20th Oct, 2024  Well Del We were confident coming down! In fairness you can only beat what is there and he is a soft ground horse, rather than a good ground one and he also wants further. It is what is it but he is a really nice horse who wants three miles. We won't get carried away but it is lovely for his owner/breeder Jim Delaney from Wexford. That's my first runner from a new yard in Bennettsbridge, which I'm renting from George and Stuart Williams so that is a great result.

Downpatrick Fri, 11th Oct, 2024  Jimli's Cave It is great for dad, he is 70 on Monday. That is our last runner before that birthday, so I am delighted for him. Denis Macauley, who the race is named after, was a good friend of his as well. Big shout out to Geoffrey (Ruddock, owner), he has been a great supporter and patient. Mr Ruddock deserves it more than I do. I worked him the other day in the blinkers and I said to everybody 'Yes, that's him'. He did (travel lovely). People said he wasn't quick enough for 2m5f - he's not slow, he just probably needed something to help him focus. He's genuine and he stuck at it really well. It has been a lean spell for us but we are starting to show green shoots (of recovery).
