The market spoke loudly for KILLYGLEN, whose second to Jaunty Flight at Carlisle earlier this month was well advertised at Newbury yesterday. Chief market rival CLEW BAY COVE made a couple of slight mistakes before being pulled up after three out as his rider felt he'd gone wrong.
This left the way clear for Roy Wilson's charge to record a facile success, galloping clear from before the last and eased right down in the closing stages by Barry Geraghty. He looks every inch a future chaser, and Geraghty reported afterwards that a more galloping track would suit the giant gelding.
BALLYDUNGMANOR is a decent yard-stick and gives the form a solid look. He kept on one paced, while CLASSIC MOON challenged briefly approaching the final flight before finding the winner much too good. The Jimmy Lambe-trained gelding, having his first hurdle run after showing some promise in bumpers, is certainly good enough to win a minor contest in time.
