The market got this right having suggested it was a match between MOURNE RAMBLER and Wheels Up. Tony Martin's charge was held up off the pace, and arrived with a smooth challenge in the straight under a typically confident ride from Paul Carberry. A mistake at the last by Wheels Up made the job a bit easier but the half-brother to staying chaser Mr Pointment always looked to have the upper hand and Carberry didn't need to get too serious when asking for an effort on the run-in.
Alan Crowe set a decent pace on WHEELS UP, going clear moving away from the stands, and kept a good bit in reserve as he slowed it down again before the straight. He was finding plenty as the tempo increased again from the second last but that error at the last ended any lingering hopes of victory.
ZITENKA and JOHNEE JOBLOT both appeared to be travelling reasonably well entering the straight put could find little as the race really developed from two out. The former, reappearing after a nine months, already has a Tralee maiden win to his credit on good ground and this run bodes well for further success in the coming months.
