An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Bob Bob Ricard (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jr and Definite Dream (IRE), place third, ridden by Brendan Powell.
The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
Jonjo O’Neill Jr stated his instructions were to drop the gelding in and take a lead as his horse had previously been keen, he also stated that he felt that the winner, Fine Margin (IRE), ridden by Patrick Mullins was running much too freely in front and that he didn’t want to put his horse under pressure too early and chase the leader.
Mr O’Neill also stated that he felt Bob Bob Ricard (IRE) had obtained his best possible placing.
Brendan Powell stated that his instructions were to give the mare a chance, to get to her jumping and finish her race off, having pulled up four times previously in point to points.
Mr Powell also stated that he felt he achieved his best possible placing.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Definite Dream (IRE), placed third, finished lame on its left fore and that Ruby's Comet (GB), unplaced, had bled from the nose.
