Oneeightofamile wins Martinstown Final
Oneeightofamile was always a nice horse and his win at Navan last September has worked out to be a decent contest. We were hoping he'd jump well and he did, apart from the final flight.
Birthday boy McCoy rides Pipe's first Irish winner
that is my first winner in Ireland from about only five or six runners. They have looked after us so well here and the racecourse have done a fantastic job watering .infact the ground was possibly even a little too slow for Street Entertainer. We bought Street Entertainer at the Horses-In-Training Sale for £12,000 and while he didn't beat much last time out at Chepstow, he beat a better field today. He'll be kept on the go for now and he may try the Flat too.
Askanna causes 33/1 upset
Askanna disappointed the last day but had a problem with her back. I knew she was in good form today but wasn't sure if she was back to her best. Barry gave her a great spin and she was pricking her ears at the line. Askanna is tiny, only 15.2hh, but will now have a break after a long year and will come back chasing next season.
Kauto fails to Follow The Plan
Follow The Plan was suited by the fast gallop today as he failed to settle early at Aintree on his latest run. We were hoping he wouldn't be out of his depth today and he's finished for the season now. . He's had some leg trouble in the past and hopefully he, and we, will be alright in the morning!
Lovethehigherlaw edges Champion Bumper win
Scotsirish gets rub of the green
I don't know if we're happy with that result or not as I received a text message from my son Patrick who had him organised to go hunter chasing next season!. He was a bit fortunate but it was great to win a prize like this. He has been a good servant over the years and will stay handicapping.
