Coen down to 7lb after Etoile win
We kind of aimed him at this race. He had a good run the last day in a '70' and he stayed on nicely, so I thought back at a '65' he had a right chance. Sam is in school, but he is in with me a fair bit. He will get opportunities as he is a good rider. He is down to 7lb now, he has ridden two (winners) on him.
Shay strikes on first start for Lupini
Since we got him, he has been in good form for us. He has been loving life and Christine rides him out every day - she gets a good tune out of him. He's very happy at home and we thought if he did transfer the homework to the track at all, he would be coming here with a little chance. Hopefully, he could build upon that. He stayed on towards the line well and Wayne thought he got the best out of him in the last furlong. He thought maybe stepping him up in trip maybe could help. We will try maybe over the mile again in the same company back here. Then we can try him over a mile-and-two as Wayne suggested. We've had him since September.
Money talks for Apache
He has improved this horse. I suppose he is not bred to sprint, but I think he is an out and out sprinter off a good fast pace. It was a good race and I don't know where the money came from, maybe it was the Colin Keane factor. I don't know, but he's not a bad horse. It is great for the lads. I'm delighted for them as they are great owners. The second ran a cracker, he got 10lb for winning the last day and he has upped his game. I'd say with Apache Outlaw we might just put him to bed for a while. We might come back for the All-Weather Finals in Newcastle and look at a race pre-race. He has to get a break at some stage.
Hat-trick for Say
I think there will definitely be more going forward in him, maybe next summer. He's a grand horse, a horse in a real good vein of form. He likes to be ridden a bit wide and I kind of know him and that's the only reason I rode him. I don't know enough about the Flat really to be riding on it!. He won well, got a lovely run round and I was able to creep a bit closer the whole way. Tony Martin's horse (Movie King) snuck up and every time he snuck up, I snuck up behind him and got a lovely run into it. I got there a fraction too soon but, even still, he is a horse you have to kind of keep going when you are going. He did it comfortably and I'd imagine that would be him for the year, and we will look forward to next year with him. He starts slowly whether it is Flat or National Hunt, and he likes to come wide and likes his own room.
McGuinness doubles up with Star
He was a very expensive yearling from Godolphin, we bought him in July at the Horses In Training Sale. He's a big, raw horse - he's a huge horse, (by) Sea The Stars, takes a little bit of time. I think he will be a lovely horse to look forward to next year in staying handicaps. I think he could be a real staying horse for next year - he's just a big, raw baby and he is only going to get stronger. We just didn't make enough use of him here the last night. The plan today was always to make sure it was a test. In all fairness, Andy Oliver's horse came at him but he wasn't for stopping, he went on again. There's a big possibility he will go over hurdles at Christmas, maybe Leopardstown. We haven't done a whole pile (of schooling) with him as yet, but he'll be learning fairly quick!
