The Stewards interviewed Eric Larkin, trainer, in relation to the late arrival of his charge, Oakfield Rose, into the parade ring for this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that his rider was delayed while weighing out. As a result, and in addition to having difficulties fitting a tongue tie, he was badly delayed
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered and cautioned Eric Larkin regarding his future responsibilities in this regard
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Pause And Ponder, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have pulled its right fore shoe, and was lame on the right fore limb post race
