Far side group has the edge at Naas!
Illustrate won nicely - the ground was very quick and he stayed going. He loves that ground and six furlongs was his trip. He was entitled to win a a maiden after his good run the last day.
Cleary 'blown away' with his 1-3!
I was blown away by her - I didn't think she was ready!. it's time they started coming into form! Sophies Choice has had her problems and to be honest I thought she'd need the run; they'd make liars out of you every day and I wasn't sure about the ground for her either! I knew Sweet Annathea was in the form of her life and she seems to be getting better with age. I might wait for Galway with both of them now.
Fingers burnt as Moth sees only red lights
Venus De Milo showed a lot as a younger filly at home but Aidan didn't want to run her until she was ready. She surprised me at Fairyhouse the way she quickened when the penny dropped and I was riding her to run a nice race today and wanted to teach her a bit to see if she was up to running in these kinds of races. I wasn't sure, but I initially thought the reason she won at Fairyhouse was because of the soft ground but the ground was totally the opposite today. She has a bit of class though and is strong and versatile.
Darwin delivers as O'Brien completes treble
he has been an exciting horse and is still only a three year old. He's still quite green, that was his first run on grass and it was his first time on a track like this. He hasn't done much at home and has only been on grass twice since we've had him, so they're probably the only times he's been on grass. He hasn't run in nearly a year and got hurt on his second run in America before having a break. He's a lovely horse and is in races like the Sussex Stakes.
Mordanmijobsworth gains maiden success
he has all the ability but the blinkers and the fast ground have been the makings of him. Gary Carroll said he got murdered the last day at Leopardstown and he told the boys then he'd win the next day. the three year old handicap he ran at The Curragh (won by Britannia Stakes winner Roca Tuma) turned out to be a very good race.
