Permission was given for Queenoftheclyde (IRE) and Serious Jockin (GB) to go early to post.
Leaving the stalls, Santorini Sal (GB), unplaced, jumped left as YOU DON’T OWN ME (IRE), placed third, jumped right, causing interference to Call Me Cheers (GB), unplaced, the winner, Jems Bond (GB), Serious Jockin (GB), placed eighth, and New Jack Swing (IRE), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Jems Bond (GB), ridden by David Nolan, interfered with Magical Force (GB), placed second, ridden by Robert Havlin.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Jems Bond (GB)’s placing as Havlin never had to stop riding and Jems Bond (GB) always appeared to be holding the second, with a neck between them at the line.
Nolan was cautioned for careless riding as he failed to correct his mount in a timely manner when Jems Bond (GB) hung left-handed, away from the whip, causing Magical Force (GB) to receive a slight bump.
Following the race, David Nolan reported that the winner, Jems Bond (GB), hung left-handed and the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding had lost its left hind shoe.
Mark Crehan reported that New Jack Swing (IRE), placed fifth, suffered interference leaving the stalls.
