Expire sheds maiden tag
that was about time! I've gone through his form but can't see why he is rated 87 . it is still too high but thankfully he has got his head in front. He is likely to go to the July Sales at Newmarket now. He is owned by Mohammed Al Suboosi, who was with me for two months' work placement last year. He trains endurance horses in Dubai and might now have a few racehorses.
Pitlochry swoops late for unlikely win
Pitlochry is a nice colt and while I thought the two horses would run well, I expected both to improve for the run. Pitlochry will step up to a winners' race now but there aren't many races about for these types of horses unless you go for a black-type contest.
Allegra foils gamble
Allegra Tak had a good run under Shane Foley at Limerick the last day and while it is hard luck, on Shane today, Pat (Smullen) rides for me when he can. Allegra Tak was entitled to be thereabouts at the head of it today and also won her maiden here.
Sapphire shines
we're delighted Sapphire won as her owner, Eva Marie Bucher-Haefner (of Moyglare Stud), was there to lead her back into the winner's enclosure. We will aim to get some blacktype with her now.
Smullen completes hat-trick
Ted Dolly is a big, hardy horse who took three 13 stone lads in Galway three years to break him!. He was broken by Jamie Kyne's (an apprentice jockey who died tragically in Britain in 2009) father and he did a great job. He was just about managable when I got him and its great for the lads to win another race with him. I'd have no fears with running him again quickly because he is so hardy.
Late Debate settles finale
Late Debate was unlucky at Navan, when he met with interference, prior to disappointing the last day when we think he may not have handled the ground. He likes good ground and Kevin came up the stands' side to look for the better ground. He may go to the July Sales but may have another run before then.
