Chateauneuf scores again for Holden
He was flying at home and working well and is a real gutsy horse. He won his maiden at Tramore and he was unlucky the last day when he fell (at Naas) and we were hoping he'd finish third,. He stuck it out well there today and there is no plan. He'll be better on better ground and we won't panic as there is a long summer ahead.
Russell doubles up on Leader
She is honest but I was worried about the ground. Davy gave her a great ride as we said we'd keep her out wide and not to get crowded and she jumped great,. Whatever she does this year is only a bonus as she has the size to jump a fence. She's a nice mare and got her black-type so we're delighted. I'm not sure where we go next, Fairyhouse or Punchestown but this was the plan.
Clean sweep in first three for Russell
He'll go jumping fences now and will stay chasing for the summer and we'll have a bit of craic with him,. He's a good looking horse and will do his job and he'll be ok.
Ballinabearna rewards his supporters
I don't know how he came down in price as he surprised me. His owner had a winner the other day so maybe it had something to do with it but stepping up in trip helped,. He wasn't declared to run here in the original race on Sunday as the ground was so holding. The dry few days helped but it was still actually the toss of a coin whether or not he'd run yesterday morning at declaration time. He'll go for another handicap now.
Mathan makes all to land odds
I've seen 1/18 shots of Nicky Henderson's getting beat and just because they are long odds-on it doesn't mean anything but having Denis O'Regan takes all the pressure off you. I can't understand why he doesn't get more rides in Ireland, as he just fills horses with confidence. He's a horse who will appreciate better ground and had been unlucky until now, but now he has paid for himself.
Zak bounces back at Limerick
He likes it around here and he's probably better around here than anywhere,. He pulled up the last day but he's a funny horse and it was sunny and there was glare and sun on fences and was never travelling. If he hadn't run at Naas and was coming here from his previous run at Punchestown, I'd be fancying him as that was a very good race. If the ground dries up he'll go out on grass.
