The Robert Tyner-trained Ballinabearna landed a nice touch for someone in the two-mile five handicap hurdle at Limerick this afternoon.
The five-year-old had been well held on five starts before today but was backed from 12/1 in the morning and went to post a 9/2 shot.
Philip Enright held his mount up before making ground before the straight. He jumped into the lead two from home and stormed clear before the last for a six-and-a-half length win.
"I don't know how he came down in price as he surprised me. His owner had a winner the other day so maybe it had something to do with it but stepping up in trip helped,” said Tyner.
"He wasn't declared to run here in the original race on Sunday as the ground was so holding.
“The dry few days helped but it was still actually the toss of a coin whether or not he'd run yesterday morning at declaration time.
"He'll go for another handicap now."
