Mullins' second-string wins Punchestown's opener
it's taken him a while to learn how to put it together. We decided to change tactics today and dropped him in a bit further back. I think it probably helped a lot in the very testing ground. The horses that were up there found it difficult and he probably just came with a wet sail at the end. That's pleasing as his pedigree suggests he should be better on better ground. He's probably just learning his trade and coming right at the right time of the year. We could look at Fairyhouse over Easter or back here at Punchestown with him. He's probably one we'll keep going for the summer as well. His bumper form was very good and that's why I think he will be better on better ground. It was a little bit of a surprise to win on that ground.
Majestic Force cut in price for Cheltenham's mares' novice
Gala Marceau disappoints as De Bromhead adds to Chelteham team
she's beaten Saylavee a lot easier today than she did here back in November and hopefully there is a bit more in the locker. She's in the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham and we'll see how she comes out of this but we might take a punt. You'd have to be tempted. she was impressive here back in November and I don't know what went wrong during Christmas, there was no real excuse for her and she just didn't run her race for some reason. That was much more like it today and Darragh knew himself after jumping two hurdles that she was back to herself. She was a different mare, travelled and jumped really well. She winged the last and went from there to the winning post with her two ears pricked.
Mullins completes Punchestown double
Cuta Des As obviously likes that ground and jumped well when Paul wanted her over the last. Rachael (Blackmore, on runner-up Tareze) had to do all the donkey work and Paul nabbed her over the last. She's just taken a while to come to hand and hopefully now she'll stay going. I know the ground is going to be turning a bit better for her but she's coming right and hopefully she'll win one or two before a summer off and then back over fences. She's a nice big type of mare that will jump fences.
Breeder Byrnes wins again with Aodhan May
she handles the ground and she had a lovely light weight. He kept it simple. She's brilliant to jump which is a blessing as well and we'll keep her going as long as this ground lasts. She broke down a couple of times before so we wouldn't be running her on good ground.
'Busy man' Sutton rides first winner
Jack is from outside Ashbourne and had previously ridden the winner of a point-to-point. His family have a pub which he works in, he rides out and has a farm as well - he's a very busy man!. Jack's Mam (Eileen) and Dad (Raymond) own her so it's great. He comes into us and rides out and is a good young lad.
