Protektorat (FR) wore earplugs throughout.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong between the winner, Protektorat (FR), ridden by Harry Skelton and Imperial Alcazar (IRE), placed second, ridden by Paddy Brennan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Protektorat (FR)’s placing as Imperial Alcazar (IRE) appeared to lose ground and some momentum when being forced to switch round Protektorat (FR) which interrupted his running for three to four strides at a critical point in the race.
Despite this, the gelding was gaining on the winner all the way to the line making up approximately a length and a half, only to be beaten by a diminishing head.
Places were revised as follows: Imperial Alcazar (IRE) first, Protektorat (FR) second.
Skelton was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, causing Brennan to switch left-handed.
Harry Skelton, the rider of Protektorat (FR), placed second was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level from turning into the home straight.
Following the race, Jeremiah McGrath reported that Grand Mogul (IRE), placed sixth, ran green.
