Express continues on an upward curve with win
We have ended up trying to bring her forward on the track because of the way the ground has been all summer at home. She is building on every run. She is a filly that has always shown us plenty at home, and we are fairly sure that she is a filly that could run in Stakes company before the end of the year. The Birdcatcher back here is a possibility.
Hayes doubles up on Stack newcomer Storm
He’s been going okay at home but is a bit green and raw, and misbehaved a bit at the stalls, but hopefully he’ll get better with racing. I’ll keep him to sprint distances for the minute. I thought he’d be too green to win today so we’ll have to sit down and make a plan.
Hill lunges late to spring shock
I was very disappointed last Friday as I thought she would have gone on soft ground. I did very little with her since. She’s grubbed up and we rode her out Monday morning. She was fine so we said we’d run her. The ground has made a huge difference but she’s tough and hardy and she does battle. Her first run wasn’t a bad run, and obviously she wants good ground. She is there to be claimed if someone wants her, so we’ll see what happens.

She’s owned by Barbara and Mark Dreeling who break a lot of horses for me, and the boys (Spout Syndicate) have her leased off them. They obviously wanted to win a race and breed from her. Tommy and Jimmy Dignam from The Spout (pub) in Kilcullen were looking for a horse to lease and they have been nice and patient. She still hasn’t got her ground as I think she will be a better filly on a bit of softer ground. She didn’t know what she was doing there for a long way but flew home. The trip suited her in fairness. It’s great for Nathan to get a winner. He’s a very good lad and a great worker. I’m delighted for him and he gave her a great ride.
