Pinwood does the business on debut
Dew hits the Line in front
I thought she was very unlucky the last day as she was drawn in the car park and didn't get the clearest of runs. We didn't get to run her as a two-year-old as she had a few problems. Those are now ironed out but she's only starting to learn her game. She's better going left handed and that's why we came here and she could now run at Navan on their next meeting.
Devonshire records deserved Listed win
She's a real tough little filly, and I'm delighted to get her head in front in Graded company. She really deserved that. She doesn't quicken off a strong gallop but needs a strong gallop, so we wanted to ride her prominently. We knew Queen Of Alba would go forward so the plan was to sit behind her. Things worked out today and the ground was to her liking as well. She's very honest, had run well early in the year on soft ground and will now step back to Group 3 company. Bill (Lee) said she might get a mile and two. Things just didn't work out the last day and today Bill had to go to the front (as early as he did) because she was tanking with him. She's worth a lot more now; I hope she'll come back next year.
Cartage relishes ground to score again
Kevin said he thought she was much sweeter in herself today and he made plenty of use of her. The track at Sligo probably didn't suit her the last day and she'll now go for a similar handicap. I'm delighted for the lads who own her as this has made their week!
Rogue proves Kerry National Angel
He's an out-an-out stayer and he had it all his own way today. He got a great ride from Ger, and he jumped well today. He's a horse I thought might win the four-miler at Cheltenham but it just clicked today. I honestly didn't know (if he won the photo-finish) but I presumed I was second!. Rule The World is not in love with that ground but he's run very well.
Tully impresses on hurdle debut
He is a smart horse and had good bumper form. His second run was particularly good and he has grown since and is a different horse. He's more settled now and could go forward from this.
Casey bows out on a winner
David came to us when he was 17 so he knows our operation. He's seen it grow, he knows the way I think and the way everyone else in the yard thinks. He's going to be a huge help organising work in the morning, and riding work as he always is. Anytime in the past when I'm buying horses I usually send David to ride them. It's great to have someone of his calibre going to Australia with Max Dynamite, and the feedback that I will be able to get from him will be huge. David rode two French Champion Hurdle winners for me but perhaps my best memory is him winning on Mystical City in the Galway Hurdle. He was the first claimer ever to win the race, and his 3lb's made all the difference that day.
O'Sullivan opens account on Cloghala
I bought him at the Derby Sale three years ago but thought he would never come right. In the last few months the penny has started to drop but he has taken a long, long time. He is progressive and I won't ask him to run in a winners' bumper and he'll go straight for a maiden hurdle next. I was impressed with James and the way he rode him. He works part-time for me riding out and it was a nice cool ride from a seven pounds claimer.
