Aga newcomer wins opener for Weld & Keane
she’s a nice filly and has been working nicely at home. Colin liked her the other morning when she worked. Obviously first time out there is a little bit of inexperience and greenness but she’s a very nice filly. We’ll see how she progresses before we decide where to go but obviously we will be looking for a bit of black type with her. That trip (1m2f) is good for the moment. She has plenty of pace and the dam stayed well. Later in the year this filly might go a mile and a half. I trained the dam (Almela) - she was good and was never worse than first or second for me.
Southern Lights makes winning reappearance
he’s a nice horse and it was a good performance. His first run last year (at Naas) was good. I think Joseph is keen to go for one of the Derby Trials with him. He hit the line well and he’d be better with a stronger gallop. He was brave getting up the inner. All ours are improving for a run. He’s a good block of a horse and you would like to think he will come on.
Dancing Approach wins on Irish debut
Shane (Crosse) said that she travelled well turning in and was hoping that the gaps would come - thankfully they did. We know she stays a bit further, she won over 1m4f and an extended 1m3f at Haydock. The ground looked quite soft for the second of those wins - she probably wouldn't want it any quicker than it is today but it's very safe ground. She can only go onwards from here, she's a big filly with a bit of scope and had been doing everything right at home. It's funny because she doesn't do it at home, but when you watch her races you'll see that she has a habit of leaning a bit left-handed when coming off the bridle - she's very genuine, though. It'll be interesting to see where she goes from here. For breeding purposes, it'd be great if she could get black type somewhere along the line.

'Exciting' Acanella wins on debut
she did today what we have seen at home. We’ve always liked her, she’s very professional and has a marvellous pedigree. We didn’t think she would be ready to run until the middle of May but being by Dansili we took advantage of the little bit of juice in the ground. It’s beautiful ground here. We’ll look forward to her. What they have in mind for her I’m not sure but it’s going to be exciting because that’s what she has been showing us at home.

Harty off the mark for new flat season
I’m still not convinced about seven (furlongs, today's distance). He’s shaped over the winter like he’ll be a seven horse but lately I’m thinking a stiff six is probably his ideal. There is a six furlongs race in Naas (April 26) but we might just wait now.
Odds tumble as Wee Pablo wins the finale
we were expecting him to run well the last day in Dundalk and he never fired. The only thing we thought was maybe go back a bit in trip. An ease in the ground certainly helped and Dylan said he liked getting his toe in. They have done a great job here with the ground; I was dreading it with the sunny day - I thought it would dry out but it’s nice and safe. He probably wouldn’t want it any quicker than this and the trip is spot on. Dylan is a great lad. He's a lovely rider and always gives very good feedback. He’s a grand tough horse and a first winner for his owner, Tommy Commins — a tree surgeon from Ardee.
