Success for outsider Days in Gowran opener
I thought he might be third or fourth. He came forward from his run at Galway, which is a difficult place to go first time and he was very green there. He got in behind the main protagonists and Fran was happy with him. I'd say we'll stretch him out to a mile next time and go for a nursery. Killarney might come a bit soon and there could be something in Listowel maybe.
Meister scores on handicap debut
He's a genuine horse and did it nicely. He would have preferred better ground. His next race will be the Tattersalls sales race at the Curragh. It's on Champions weekend and it will be nice to have a few runners.
Carla completes her hat-trick in the feature
It was a very pleasing performance by her with a penalty. It was an exceptionally good Listed race, run at Group 3 or 2 standard given the pace they ran it at. It was an exceptionally good renewal of the race. That's her trip. She has progressed very well from the spring. She took time early and we paced it slow which has paid very good dividends. We'll take it one step at a time but we'll find a big one before the year's out. Physically she's developing all the time and is a filly who will make a lovely four-year-old.
Weld & Smullen double up with Timiyan
It was a good staying performance. He's a horse that has progressed and developed as the year has gone on. Well take it one day at a time with him and see where we go. Physically he has developed considerably as the year has gone on and that's one of the main reasons for his success.
Treble for Smullen as Viral lands the odds
He just needs a cut. Pat said he's a seriously improving horse and there should be a really nice handicap in him. He's a gorgeous horse and needs it soft. He could go to the horses-in-training sale and would make a gorgeous jumper.
Zelos goes one place better twelve months on
She was second in this race last year. I thought she ran well at Fairyhouse and was a little unlucky. We then took her to Redcar and I thought she'd win but she disappointed a bit.
4 for Smullen & 3 for Weld as Sun just prevails
That's my 70th winner of the season in Ireland (top of the leading trainers standings) and a lovely treble tonight. She had to be tough and battle and she got an excellent ride from Pat.
