Doin bounces back to form after injury
She won in Wexford, was second in Punchestown and got injured then and was off for a long time. She ran in Navan the last day and was just a bit fresh and keen. We knew she'd come on well for it after not having run in so long. . We are delighted with that today and it's nice to see her come back and win after returning from injury. She is straightforward, she jumped well, travelled away and when he asked her to go, she had no problem in quickening up. . She has plenty of ability and we will see what the handicapper gives her now. We might pick out something around Christmas for her.
Chap claims eventful contest with ease
It's great to win this race named in honour of John Kiely. We've had plenty to do with John over the years. He spoke up for me when I was getting my licence and I've galloped horses at his place. With the casualties at the third last you don't know what would have happened, but Conor thinks he had loads of horse underneath him. He won well. Conor didn't even realise there was loose horses until they came at him at the second last. He thought it was a horse sneaking up his inner. He ran well the last day in Limerick and I haven't done a whole lot with him in the two weeks since. He got a mark of 95 and this was his first handicap obviously. I think he is a nice horse and we've always thought a lot of him. I'm surprised he didn't win a bumper in the summer but I think mentally he just wasn't there. He is getting there now and that ground is exactly what he wants. He'd plough away through it all day. He might go to Limerick but we will see what the handicapper does. We won't spend too long over hurdles, I'd say he will jump a fence.
Belle battles well to open chasing account
She ran last Thursday and ran well in a Listed chase. It was probably a bit soon coming back here but we had entered on Thursday morning prior to the Thurles run, just in case anything happened there,. She came out of that race grand and we said we'd come here. We could have gone for this or the handicap but we said we'd go for this instead. It looked an easier option for her. . It's brilliant to get Davy. We only have one horse in training so it's great to get him to ride her. Treacysenniscorthy done his knee the last time he ran at Leopardstown so he is finished now and is out in the field. . There is a 0-116 handicap hurdle at Leopardstown on the 28th of this month. We will probably try to freshen her up and go there. She is rated 93 over hurdles so she'd have a little squeak if she snuck into the bottom of that.
Walk gains deserved success
Cody grabs first 'track' winner on West
He was as fit as a fiddle from running in point-to-points. He is an excellent jumper and is about 16.1hh. We were more hopeful than confident coming up against all the big boys. He is a Westerner and they love that ground. To ride him you'd know that he'd like the likes of Tramore. . He is auld dinger, he is good and honest and that's half the battle. His wind is A1. I've had so many horses with wind issues that I'd take a horse with a leg instead! You have to get so many surgeries when they have a wind issue and then you might get the wrong type of surgery and it mightn't work, it's a disaster. . I have about six or seven in at the moment, mostly point-to-pointers. I used to have a few more for the track but the money is in the point-to-point game. I've had point-to-point winners last season and I've sold them all and made a good few pounds on them.
