An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference after jumping the final hurdle when the winner, Cat Tiger (FR), ridden by Mr David Maxwell, interfered with Welsh Saint (FR), placed second, ridden by James Bowen.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Cat Tiger (FR)’s placing as Welsh Saint (FR) appeared to lose little momentum as a result of the interference which occurred half a furlong out and always appeared to be holding the gelding on the run to the line, with the official winning distance a neck.
Maxwell was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed without timely correction, resulting in Welsh Saint (FR) being carried slightly off its intended line.
