The Echo Boy puts it all together in style
To be honest I thought he'd win a race before now,. He was very good in his point-to-points and we liked him. Conor said at the back of the fourth last he thought he had another circuit to go he was going that easy. He jumped and galloped. On better ground he's a bit keen and probably settled a bit better on that ground today. It was a good performance. We'll step him up and trip won't be an issue either. We'll look for a novice in three or four weeks time. I think that was a nice race.
Vodka at 12 and a 1st win is achieved after trotting to races
That's what he's been showing me at home for the last few years. He's been very difficult to train,. He used to lose his races in the horsebox. The only glimmer of hope I had was the race he ran in Punchestown a few years ago (sixth to Ballyoisin). If he hadn't run that race I'd have pulled the plug with him. I actually trotted him up to the track today to just take it out of his head about the horsebox, so that he didn't have the race run before we got him here. We kept him away from the other horses. After he got microchipped and checked by the vets he went back out. He has a phobia of everything, he's a wimp!. He's had a few jobs done on him as well. The back man did a great job on him after he ran the last day. I noticed he was jumping to the left then. He's such a good mover at home that you'd never think he'd need anything done but he did loads to work on his pelvis and back. He jumped so fluent today.
Jeff Kidder goes two two one over hurdles
You'd have to say he deserved that. I thought he was going to get done again because he got locked in. He handled the ground reasonably well, I was a bit worried he mightn't, but Sean said he did. He stays well. I'm sure when he goes back next season on to the Flat there will be races to be won with him over two miles. We'll tip along and see where we go next. His jumping needs to improve a little bit. Colin Keane loves him even though he's lowly enough rated. He fights for you and jockeys like a horse that keeps trying for you. I'm delighted to win with him and hopefully he can win again.
Fakiera makes light of 227 day absence to win at Fairyhouse
On his form he was entitled to win a maiden hurdle. He had been placed in a few good races. Jack said he'll come on plenty from it and a step up in trip will suit him better.
No major alarms for Kay on debut for champion trainer
Mattie’s Mountain on the scoreboard for McCarthy and Brouder
Perry's pain is O'Sullivan's gain with impressive Royal Kahala
I was disappointed with her run the last day but Declan Lavery told me afterwards that she needed the run,. She's a nice filly, going back to her first run. She's a massive filly and we'll see whether she goes for another bumper, I'll speak to the syndicate. We do think an awful lot of her. I'm actually raging for poor Seamus (Perry) in the yard who forgot to do the health screening. It would have been his first winner so it's bitter-sweet for him as he does all the work with her and rides her every day. James gave her a great ride and she's a nice filly. We'll see now whether she goes for the Listed bumper at Navan in a few weeks time or goes hurdling I don't know yet. She's a nice one to look forward to.
