Diesel the fuel for the busy mare
That went well thank God, she stayed down last night, we went home. There is something not right about that!. That probably just helped her a little bit. I'd say we will probably be heading to Galway with her now after this. . Yesterday I was a bit concerned and today I was even more so. You just don't know what the race has taken out of her. Even though she hadn't a hard race, we couldn't be sure what it took out of her until she went out there again today. She only had a feather weight on her back last night. I don't know what way Noel O'Brien (handicapper) is going to view this now. It's nice to get two pots. I chatted to Noel yesterday and she was to go up eleven pounds for yesterday. We just took our chance with her and it worked out.
Penance signs off for summer with a win
We took a chance coming here with the ground. He is a horse we thought wanted heavy ground and I never intended racing him at this time of the year. My horses were a bit sick in January and February and he was one of the worst of them. I was late getting him out and between the jigs and the reels we had to try and give him a go, especially after finishing second the last day at Downpatrick. I was even iffy about running him in Downpatrick, we took a chance and he seemed to handle it but that will definitely be it now anyway for the summer. Fair play to Jonathan he gave him a ballsy ride. He didn't panic halfway through when he was struggling to lie-up. Fair dues to the horse, I didn't think he was going to get there, but he did anyway.
Big race Fox does it again
I was well prepared to beaten a short head! It was a turn of the Gods,. When I saw him coming wide around the outside I thought maybe he had given away too much ground, I thought he might get done again. He is a tough, genuine horse and we will probably aim him for the Galway Hurdle now. He'll get an entry in the good hurdle at Killarney before Galway.
