Bolger and McManus win Punchestown's opening race
I just said to the owner he’s a patient man as he's an eight year-old maiden! The other horse (Youcannotbeserious) is classier but the experience around here told. We’ll see how he is but he may come here for the La Touche on Thursday. He seems to be fine and fresh, and he ran twice last year as well. The ground is not too taxing either. It gets the week off to a good start.
Supreme Dream 'is a fair machine' as Mullins eyes Champion Hurdle
Ruby said he was too settled and was not as pleased as he was in Cheltenham but I thought in Cheltenham he just ran very free. You can’t keep racing like that and I was much happier with today’s performance, albeit the second horse has been to Cheltenham and Aintree and had two very hard races. He’s a fair machine but we were the beneficiary of him (Felix Desjy) having those hard races today. I’m happy to stay over hurdles and try and make a Champion Hurdle horse out of him. I think he could be good enough so we’ll see.
McConnell bags first Punchestown festival winner
it didn’t work (making the running) in Ayr and we didn’t want to break her heart again so we said lets try something different and if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work.
Festival D'ex wins Goffs Landrover Bumper on debut
I’m delighted for John (Doyle, owner) who is a big supporter of the yard. He invests a lot of money and Bobby O’Ryan advises him on what to buy. This is his local track so it’s great.
Easy win for Delta Work
he could be anything and is a horse to really look forward to. The Gold Cup is the plan (for next season) and that’s where we’ll go. He was in his own rhythm the whole way, and never looked out of his own comfort zone. I haven’t given him much work since Cheltenham and just kept him hacking away. We kept it simple and it’s great for everyone in the yard as well as Davy (Russell) and for Gigginstown who are big supporters of the yard. We knew we were light on bullets this week so it’s nice to get a Grade One on the board the first day.
